The Tennerhof in Kitzbühel: Your culinary hot spot in the Alps!

The longtime sous chef Johannes Denk was appointed the new chef de cuisine in the summer of 2019 at the Relais & Châteaux Tennerhof Gourmet & Spa de Charme Hotel in Kitzbühel.

The dishes that Johannes Denk serves in our restaurant in Kitzbühel, Austria, to our common guests are multi-layered, precise in their statement and artfully staged. He will continue the hood tradition in the property Tennerhof hotel. The Kupferstube and the Tennerhof have been continuously honored for over 30 years by toques via Gault Millau. The restaurant was also awarded by Guide Michelin.

Denk, Zodiac Gemini, is a native Austrian and comes from St. Marienkirchen near Schärding. His parents gave him the love to good food. The 27-year-old completed his apprenticeship at the Hotel Fürstenhof in Bad Griesbach, but it was not until the Kempinski Hotel St. Moritz that his craftsmanship was consolidated. Further stops were the Hotel Edelweis in Berchtesgarden as well as in Zell am See in the renowned Salzburgerhof. Working hard and working closely with many foreign cultures did not pose a challenge for our ambitious chef Johannes Denk: he spent half a year on the internationally renowned MS Europa 2, a cruise ship owned by Hapag Lloyd Cruises. Especially the time on board, he felt as very formative, because he has worked there with "all sorts of nationalities and a bit of something taken away from each".
Johannes Denk has been working at the Relais & Châteaux Hotel Tennerhof in Kitzbühel since 2015 and is now following chef to our former Chef de Cuisine Stefan Lenz, awarded the title of Chef of the Year 2015.

Denk himself describes his kitchen style as regional with international accents. In his outstanding creations he combines the natural taste of the best of the region with creative peculiarities. It conveys the true taste of fresh ingredients and combines them with selected, regional products that turn every dish into a new taste experience. Our chef in Kitzbühel does not have a favorite product. Johannes Denk prefers products with regionality, character and excellent quality.

His personal favorite dish is and remains typical of Austria: a Wiener schnitzel!
